Check Your IAS / IPS Eligibility
Basic UPSC CSE eligibility is similar for IAS and IPS, but IPS additionally needs strict physical and vision standards.
For most candidates, UPSC CSE age band is roughly 21–32 years, with relaxations for OBC, SC/ST and PwBD as per notification.
Category decides your upper age limit and the number of attempts allowed in UPSC CSE.
Appearing in any one paper of Prelims counts as an attempt, even if your result is later cancelled.
UPSC requires a Bachelor’s degree from a recognised university; final year candidates can also apply subject to proof before mains.
IPS has stricter height, chest and eyesight norms than IAS; the final decision is always by the official medical board.
Disclaimer: This IAS/IPS eligibility checker is a simplified guidance tool. It uses broad age, attempt and degree rules and a very basic IPS physical self‑check. Always rely on the latest UPSC Civil Services Examination notification, IPS medical rules and official UPSC website before applying or taking final decisions.
